Whetstone

Not to be confused with the more-recent community at the corner of Highways 90 & 82, Whetstone was a station and siding along the El Paso & Southwestern Railroad. That section of the railroad was built between 1910-12, and Whetstone was likely established as a workers' camp around that time. The EP&SW Railroad was acquired by Southern Pacific in 1955, and this section was subsequently abandoned in 1959. Whetstone disappeared from maps soon thereafter.
