Liberty
Settlers first arrived here during the late 1800s, and established Altamont. The first post office opened in 1895, operating out of the home of its first postmaster Harriet Toothaker, giving rise to the nickname Toothaker Place. The post office closed in 1898, but moved and reopened under the name Liberty in 1901. Today the small hamlet of around 60 remains surrounded by farmland and the larger city of Buckeye.
