Lime Kiln

Lime Kiln was a station and siding on the Bodie & Benton Railway at the bottom of the steep, switchbacked grade into Bodie, where helper engines were staged to assist. Also located here, and for which the station was named, was a lime kiln which presumably produced lime used at Bodie (though its dates of construction and operation are unknown). The railway lasted until 1917, when it was finally abandoned and dismantled.
