"Spanish" Smelter
Although little is actually written or known about the old "Spanish" smelter, it is more likely of Mexican origin. One report evidently claims that it was rediscovered in 1870, and mining is known to have occurred as early as a century prior; therefore it is likely that the smelter dates to the early-to-mid 1800s. In addition to the smelter, which still smelled of smoke in 2018, ruins of a large stone cabin remain across the gulch.
