Knight Grain Elevator

Towering above Tintic Valley is the sole remnant of its most ambitious farming endeavor. Jesse Knight established a 2640 acre wheat farm about 1914, which by August yielded sixty bushels per acre. The following June, Knight's Union Grain and Elevator Company began construction on a large grain elevator, which had a capacity of 50,000 bushels and was completed at a cost of $15,000. That year, however, the yield was only twenty bushels per acre. By 1918, the farm was operated by W.L. Creer, and in 1921 a three-year lease was given to Vet Whiting of nearby Mammoth. The venture likely didn't last beyond the 1920s.
